In 1971, Claude Larson introduced Mynie Grové to German TV and she entered the international music and TV industry. Under his guidance, she became a successful composer, songwriter, arranger, producer, singer and TV personality. Since Covid, she has lived in the Overstrand.

1. Describe yourself in a hashtag.

2. What are you listening to in your car right now?

Jazz-funk and alleswatmallis [everythingcrazy].

3. What do you read first thing every morning?

Depending on the previous day, God Calling OR TwitterX.

4. What lies next to your bed?

Cushions, so the dogs and Katt Bush have room.

5. If you had to listen to one song for the rest of your life, which one would you choose?

One isn't going to do it – my ears and my “ID" need “wide".

6. Is there anything else you would like to do?

A lead role in a FABULOUS movie that challenges me emotionally.

7. Someone you would like to work with?

Jonathan Butler.

8. Your ideal day? 

Peaceful sitting long-legged at the sea and a quiet mind. 

9. If you could single out one of your professions, which is your favourite?

Composing Movie/TV music – colouring visual components with an imagination without limits.

10. What do you find sexy? 

Music ... it's incredible therapy and the frequencies are medicine – it's the health treatment of the future.

11. What would you say is your emotional age?

37 mostly!

12. What are you afraid of? 

Intrepid ekke [me], afraid of boggerol.

13. What is your favourite art festival?

I suspect the Woordfees ... it just falls differently. 

14. What is the best concert you have ever gone to? 

Too many to mention because my compassion leaves a hole in my being every time …

15. Your favourite movie of all time?

Blade Runner (1982) – Ridley Scott genius.

16. If you could choose to play a love scene in a movie opposite anyone, who would you choose? 

Javier Bardem ... sigh ...

17. If you had to wear a uniform, what would it be?

Boudica – full battle regalia. The cuff is my daily uniform.

18. Your favourite period in history?

I suspect the 19th century over the deep yearnings in the Brontë sisters' and Thomas Hardy's books.

19. What would you tell your 21-year-old self if you met her now?

Hold on tight – your best years are yet to come! Still saying it. 😊

20. If you could live and work in another country, where would it be?

UK – where I can live among the green hills, speak English and be close to friends and family, and close enough to Europe to go weekending and practice my Dutch, Spanish, Italian, German and French.

21. If you could invite three people for dinner, who would they be and what would you like to talk to them about?

Quincy Jones – his musical integrity and talent as a pioneer in the most difficult times until now.

Iyanla Vanzant – just listening to her life wisdom.

Robert Edward Grant – all about everything cosmic and the magical Creation in which and through which we live.

23. Your favourite Afrikaans poem?

N.P. van Wyk Louw's “Ballade van die Nagtelike Ure".

24. Who would you choose to paint your portrait?

Paul Emsley.

25. What's the most expensive thing you've ever blown money on?

Oh, I don't blow money; I squeeze “Van Riebeeck" until his eyes tear up LOL – house/car – everything second hand, because I buy “green".

26. Is there an older woman who inspires you?

Joni Mitchell – another Scorpio, day before me on November 7, who never gave up her True North for The Suits; despite her health problems, at 81 she continues to create –  who wrote “Woodstock": “we are stardust, we are golden". What an example of honouring your talent. 

27. Who do you long for these days?

All my loved ones who are gone: Mama Annie, Uncle Renè, Uncle Fanus, the love of my life, Chipi van der Merwe, all my Labradors – and I wish I could have gotten to know my Papa Albert as an adult ... Being alone is good, but it's lonely.
