1. What do you listen to in your car?

Willie Nelson, Grimes, Megan Thee Stallion, Rolling Stones, Radiohead, Wunderhorse, Bill Withers. I basically listen to a bit of everything, but I don't listen to Boeremusiek.

2. What is the best present you have received?

Second, third and fourth chances.

3. What is your guilty pleasure?

To play PUBG MOBILE, a first shooter video game, with guitarist Henry Steel and my son Ben Francis.

4. And your pet hate?

People who talk when they should be quiet, and people who are quiet when they should be talking.

5. Any movies you rewatch on a regular basis?

Ja, a couple. Peter Sellers, Wish You Were Here, Back to the Future, Raging Bull, when I was little Al Debbo movies and when my son was little Leon Schuster movies. They were huge at our house.

6. What were you like as a kid?

A performer, loved playing outside and loved kicking the ball against the garage door. I drew and had a gang and a treehouse… my own Trompie en die Boksombende, hahaha.

7. Your favourite toy when you were little?

Skedaddle: it was something where you could draw a picture on a dome with a joystick, and when you shook it the picture disappeared.

8. Your favourite South African authors?

Antjie Krog, Ingrid Jonker, Petra Müller, RR Ryger, Max du Preez (hahaha), Marianne Thamm. Too many to mention.

9. Five items you could not travel without?

Guitar, credit card, passport, perfume and face products.

10. Who would you still like to work with?

I would love to work on a project with my son. He's turning 17 in January. 

11. The highlight of your life?

That I could experience true love.

12. What inspires you?

A vulnerable heart, a strong personality, a good glass of bourbon, the ocean.

13. How would you describe your own style?

Structured chaos.

14. Do you have any pets?

Nope, I have guitars. Their names are Goldie, Moody Blue, Vernon, hahaha, 18 of them. They all have names.

15. Which international publications do you read regularly?

The New Yorker, The Washington Post, Popular Mechanics, as well as Mojo since I was 16. It's the best magazine for rock, country, guitar-driven music, and where you can read in-depth interviews with the greats.
