1. What do you listen to when you're alone?

I aim for silence.

2. What do you read first thing every morning?

The day's weather. And the load-shedding schedule.

3. What are you reading at the moment?

L'accompagnatrice by Nina Berberova.

4. Is there a character in a drama that you over-identify with or feel like it was written for you?

Anne Carlson of Workin’ Moms.

5. What do you do if you cannot identify with the role you have to play?

I try to imagine how another actress, who I think is actually perfect for the role, would play it.

6.  Ever forgotten your words?

Absolutely. Not only have I forgotten my words, but also to go on stage at all.

7.  Your favourite SA playwrights?

Reza de Wet, Ingrid Winterbach, Bauke Snyman, Francois Toerien, Saartjie Botha.

8. What are you afraid of?

Locusts by day and ghosts by night.

9. Who do you admire? And why?

Youth. They make me angry, but I admire the sheer fearlessness with which they go into the day. I miss it.

10. What is the most overrated trait in people?

Ambition.

11.  Your guilty pleasure?

To view For Sale properties.

Pieter-Dirk Uys, Joni Mitchell, Benicio del Toro (possibly just as eye candy), Alan Committie.

13. If you could choose another period to live in, when would it be?

The Vikings speak to the barbarian in me.

14. Your favourite toy as a child?

My older sister, until she didn't want to play with me any more. After that, a magnifying glass.

15. What do you look forward to?

December.
