Speaking out against wrongdoing isn't Islamophobic or anti-Semitic, writes ISMAIL LAGARDIEN. It is our duty as members of the human race, and silence holds greater dangers.

IT has not been a good week for political Islam. The evidence has been damning. It has been worse for women in Islamic republics. And much worse for thinking critically about the religion.

The main problem is that a short, disingenuous, expedient and self-sanctifying link has been fabricated between defending women and girls in Islamic societies and accusations of Islamophobia.

It is almost as short as the link created between opposition to the occupation and wilful appropriation of Palestinian lands and their homes and accusations of anti-Semitism. ..
